Description
Expansion joints are devices containing a bellows membrane that are designed to absorb dimensional changes, such as those that occur due to thermal expansion or contraction of a pipeline, duct or vessel. They are designed to control the movement in pipework & safely absorb the temperature-induced expansion and contraction of construction materials, to absorb vibration, to hold parts together.
There are other terms in use for expansion joints such as expansion bellows, flexible joints and compensators.
