What is a Seamless Steel Pipe?

Seamless pipe, as the name suggests, is a pipe without a seam or a weld-joint. Seamless Steel Pipe is made from a solid round steel ‘billet’ which is heated and pushed or pulled over a form until the steel is shaped into a hollow pipe. A seamless steel pipe is a circular pipe having a hollow section and no seams around it. The seamless steel pipe is made of carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel ingot or solid tube blank, and then is made by hot rolling, cold rolling or cold drawing. Seamless pipes are considered superior to welded pipes as they are built using monolithic steel billets, with intrinsic mechanical strength, without seam welds.

What is the difference between seamless steel pipe and welded steel pipe?

Seamless steel pipe has the better pressure capacity, strength is higher than the ERW welded steel pipe. So it is widely applied in high pressure equipment, and thermal, boiler industries. Generally the welding seam of the welded steel pipe is the weak point, the quality affects overall performance.

How is a seamless pipe made?

It is then made into a pipe by stretching the steel out into a seamless tube or forcing the edges together and sealing them with a weld. Seamless pipe, as the name suggests, is a pipe without a seam or a weld-joint.

What is the difference between a solid billet and seamless pipe?

It is, in essence, one solid homogeneous piece of steel. A solid billet is simply heated and then stretched over a series of mandrels until the pipe has achieved its desired diameter and wall thickness. Is seamless pipe stronger than welded pipe? Seamless steel pipe has the better pressure capacity, strength is higher than ERW welded steel pipe.

Packing

1- Plastic caps plugged at the two sides of pipe ends

2- Should be avoided by the steel strapping and transport damage

3- Bundled signs should be uniform and consistent

4- The same bundle(batch) of steel pipe should be came from the same furnace.

5- The steel pipe has the same furnace number, the same steel grade, the same specifications.
